So I have been away for quite a while..... I apologise !!
To start this post off I would like to say well done to everyone who took part in the 'Moo Trek' .. The big man would have been proud, he also would have been laughing his socks off at the fact that so many unfit people were attempting to climb Ben Arthur !!
It was a tough one to start out with and I'm pretty sure 90% of the people taking part in it were dangerously under prepared.. No more so than myself and my bigger balder partner in crime C.Doc.... Fair enough I was wearing hill walking boots but thats where my preparation stopped.. Along with my hill walking boots I wore three quarter lengths and a superdry jacket that didnt keep you so super dry !! C.Doc was also on top form, wearing an old pair of boots, jeans and a jacket that he regularly wears to the pub.. So it was obvious it was going to be a challenge !!
On the walk up it hit me, I should write about this.. Myself and C.Doc keep talking about ''Docs On Tour'' but never actually do anything so we have decided to try something that we arn't the best at once a month and I will write about it to keep you updated, with the blog ending in a WIN or FAIL situation . . :)
So....... We set off around 10.20am-ish, the weather was ok as we left which had me in quite an optomistic mood.. This soon changed, 10 minutes into the trek a stop was required for some people to catch a breath or two, and then the rain came ! :( It came down on us all very hard and after only a mere half hour of walking myself and C.Doc were talking of an unfortunate ''injury'' happening to one of us meaning the walk could not be completed, but we battled on to eventually get to the top... and thats when the walk started !! I couldn't believe it... I had been walking for about an hour and the big bloody cobbler wasn't even in sight !!
Luckily we had the thought of ''Swedemason's'' videos from youtube to keep the spirits up.. If you havn't checked this guy out then do it... NOW ! Without the thought of his videos I would've been a goner... Oh that and the thought of McMoo.. but more so the videos lol....
The group had split up.. some were in the distance, others were further in the distance and myself and C.Doc were at the back, which was understandable considering how pathetic our preparation was !
Then came a fork in the path.... do we go right, (the correct route) or do we go left (the very uncorrect route) .. Left we went and it proved to be a very wrong way to go but a quicker way to go, which in my opinion then made it the correct way to go !! We battled up through marshy areas then on to some rocks and then a stream... ''Follow the stream up'' someone shouted to me, yeah no problem, I'll just climb up through a stream in my three quarter lengths and rubbish jacket.......
Eventually we made it to the top.... It was glorious, I thought to myself, ''the view is amazing, this must be why people do this as a hobby.. That and the fact that they are NUTS, I wouldn't do that again if you paid me'' ... BUT .. ''Docs On Tour'' set out on our first challenge and we did it.... we may not have done it in the correct fasion, or in the correct attire but we did it....
So to sum up this 'Docs On Tour' ......
WIN or FAIL - WIN
Enjoyment factor - 3/10
Will Docs On Tour take part in a challenge like this again - Never
